The more I watch CSI: Miami, the more I enjoy the powerful performances
of actress, Emily Procter, who portrays Detective Calleigh Duquesne on
the hit show.
For the past three seasons, Procter has helped make CSI: role to make her one of America's favorite prime time stars.
Procter, who was born on October 8, 1968 and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, was no stranger to television before opting to make the move to Los Angeles. After she received her degrees in journalism and dance at East Carolina University, she was employed as a television meteorologist at WNCT-TV in Greenville, North Carolina.
Procter had originally intended to get into the theater department at her college in East Carolina, but the head of the theater department told her that he thought she did not have what it to takes to become an actress and that it would not work for her. According to Emily's own words, this was a great inspiration to go out and do it anyway.
After the move to Los Angeles, Procter's father provided the costs for acting school for two years. Before graduating, Procter had already landed a number of small roles in films such as Jerry Maguire (1996) and Breast Men (1997). During the 1995-96 season 3 of Lois and Clark the New Adventures of Superman she portrayed Lana Lang, becoming the first blond actress to ever do so. Procter also had a recurring guest role as Associate White House Counsel Ainsley Hayes on NBC's The West Wing.
Away from the cameras, Procter has volunteered as an actress with the Young Storytellers Program and is very interested and knowledgeable in interior decoration and antiques.
Procter is an avid Poker player who has already participated in at least one celebrity poker tournament and says she learned to play as a child when her father would play a game called "penny poker" with her. Procter is also fascinated with jigsaw puzzles and performing with her new band as well as working with various charities for the homeless.
